This cheerful cluster necklace is our homage to the domestic arts as practiced by women in the first half of the 20th century. Any one who ever rooted around in their mother's or grandmother's button tins knows that more than buttons were to be found there: spools, tokens, odd bits of costume jewelry, thimbles, and old keys seemed like buried treasures to our young eyes. Here we have reproduced a vintage spool label on metal (courtesy of Olde America Antiques, www.oldeamericaantiques.com) and mixed it with these vintage items: a wonderful 1930s china stencil button, a wooden bell, green Czech glass ring and crystal button, and a Mississippi River dyed pearl button. Necklace is 28 inches long.
